How to Buy or Sell on vinted

Overview:

Vinted is an online marketplace , allows you to buy and sell second hand clothing or accessories .

How does it works as buyer :

You type in what you are looking for example : Dress then you will have the option to filter by color / brand / size / price .. ex

Once you find what you are looking for, you can either offer the seller a discounted price that you want to pay or pay the price as listed on the payment process. It will ask you to choose the delivery option depending on what the seller put as an option for you to choose from . so there is 4 options :

( evri { home or collection point }) _ ( inpost { home or collection point }) _ ( yodel {home or collection point }) _ or (royal mail { home only }) .

Once you choose your preferable delivery option you will pay the total including the price of the item, the protection fee (…) and the postage .

Yay you just bought your first item from vinted now you have to wait for the seller to send your item they have 8 or 10 days to post your item once posted it will take 2 to 5 days in the ideal scenario . Once received you have 3 days to check if everything is ok then you confirm all is good , once you do that then the money will be released to the seller .

If for any reason you want to return the item you will have to pay for the postage to send it back ( even if it’s not as described ) .

How does it works as seller :

You clear your wardrobe and you want to sell pieces that you don’t use , well you take a picture of the items one by one and you press sell at the bottom you upload the pictures and fill in the item details like size, brand , price and description . and press upload . ( yes it’s this easy ) , now it’s a waiting game , when someone buys the item you pack it and download the postage label ( explained below) , take it to the relevant postage place and send it . Once the buyer receives the item if everything is ok they will confirm receiving and you will have the money released in your account .

Postage explained :

  • – As a seller you will have the option to choose what postage providers are best for you .
  • Evri : they have dropping points and you can print the label in the shop ( they have a special label printer ) just scan the downloaded code from the sell page and scan it in the machine and once the label is printed stick it to the package and hand it to the cashier .
  • Inpost : you don’t need to print at home as long as you put locker to locker , just download the code scan it in the inpost locker screen the door of the locker will open depend on the size chosen , put the package inside and close it ( by the way once you close it and confirm it wont open again ) . { inpost is my favorite } .
  • Royal mail : i switch this off for me personally it’s more expensive for the buyer . However, I think it’s the same concept: you download the label and scan it at the post office .
  • Yodel : same as evri however the cashier will print the label for you when you give them the bar code .

Tips for buyers :

  • You can browse items by category by brand, size by price .. ex .
  • You can save your search term and go back to it to check what’s new .
  • Some good items will sell very quickly so if you really like the item just buy it or make an offer , because once it’s sold it’s sold ( you receive notification telling you it’s sold ) and it’s disappointing sometimes if you really like the item .
  • Read the description and ask the question you need because once you receive the item you will have to pay to return it .

Tips for sellers :

  • Hang the items when taking the pictures ( preferably ) .
  • use natural daylight and clear your phone lens .
  • Describe as much details as possible ( its saves you from the returns )
  • Be honest if there is a bubble or cut or stain, just say it , people will appreciate the honesty and they may buy it if it’s special.
  • Price the items reasonably ,it’s a 2nd hand marketplace and people buy from here because they cant afford brand new items . and it’s better to get £5 for an item or it’s just gonna sit in your wardrobe. Don’t forget they have to pay the protection fees and the postage on top , minimum another £4 . so it’s not just the price of the item . just to take that in consideration .
  • Post as quickly as you can ., when people buy items they want to receive then as quickly as possible .
  • Use packaging from an item you received whether it’s from amazon or any shoe box you have or bags you got , recycle packaging it’s good for the environment ( but please don’t use crisps bags ..lol) .

Pros and cons in my opinion :

  • Easy and free to use .
  • As a seller you don’t have to pay anything to sell on vinted .
  • Affordable items if you are on budget
  • Good for the environment that we get to wear each other items .
  • Easy to post items
  • Affordable postage .

reviews :

  • I try to always leave a feedback if its good , if i dont like what i receive i just leave it . they will receive an automatic review anyway .
  • If you cancel the sale or the buy you will receive automatic negative feedback .
  • Avoid getting negative feedback by describing the item well , keep a good communication and post as quickly as you can .
  • Remember the more good reviews you get the more people will trust you .
  • You do have the option to respond to reviews .
